PLANNING FOR INSTRUCTION

  • LESSON 1

     

    Objectives:

     

    1. Students can list school clubs and extracurricular activities.
    2. Students can tell each other what they can do in different school
      clubs and extracurricular activities.
    3. Students can recognize and properly use the new vocabulary.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    类、服务、艺术、体育、学术、社团

     

    Activity 1: Brainstorm

     

    1. In a group of 4, students are required to brainstorm different types of extracurricular activities and clubs based on these categories:
      服务类、艺术类、体育类、学术类
    2. Each category of extracurricular activities or clubs should be written in a different color. After brainstorming, each student in the group will do a brief presentation for a type of club or extracurricular activity.

     

    Activity 2: Ask, answer, and learn

     

    1. The clubs we have at school and what category they belong to.
    2. The extracurricular activities we have at school.

     

    Activity 3: Group work

     

    Students tell each other about the school clubs and extracurricular
    activities in their school (name and what students do in it).

     

  • LESSON 2

     

    Objectives:

     

    1. Students can share their opinions on their favorite school club/ extracurricular activity (name, what they can do in it and why they
      like it).
    2. Students can name popular school clubs/extracurricular activities
      and explain why they are so popular.
    3. Students can recognize and properly use the new vocabulary.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    物理、排球、戏剧、舞蹈、环保、植树、摄影、吉他

     

    Activity 1: Warm up

     

    1. Review Chinese characters and sentence structures learned
      from the last lesson.
    2. List school clubs and extracurricular activities

     

    Activity 2: Ask, answer and learn

     

    1. What is the most popular club at your school? Why?
    2. What is the popular extracurricular activity in your school? Why?

     

    Activity 3: Interview

     

    Please write down your answer to the following questions:

    1. 在你学校,什么是最受欢迎的社团/课外活动之一?为什么?
    2. Then, within 3 minutes, please interview as many students as possible
      to find out their answers to that same question.
    3. Based on your interviews, you have to report what is the most popular activity in your school, whether it is the same as what you think or not,
      and why people think like that.

     

    Activity 4: Presentation

     

    Talk about your favorite school club/extracurricular activity.
    What you can do in it and why you like it.

     

  • LESSON 3

     

    Objectives:

     

    1. Students can exchange ideas on a school club/extracurricular activity
      based on teacher’s questions.
    2. Students can recognize and properly use the new vocabulary.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    课外活动、开心、象棋、围棋、学会

     

    Activity 1: Warm up

     

    1. Review Chinese characters and sentence structures learned
      from the last lesson.
    2. Choose one of your favorite clubs or extracurricular activities
      and give a brief introduction to it.

     

    Activity 2: Ask, answer and learn

     

    1. What school clubs/extracurricular activities are there in your school?
    2. What is one school club/extracurricular activity that you have joined?
    3. How long have you been in that club/extracurricular activity?
    4. If not, why haven’t you joined a club/ extracurricular activity?

     

    Activity 3: Group work

     

    1. Interview a friend based on the questions in activity 2.
    2. Present the results of your interview.

     

  • LESSON 4

     

    Objectives:

     

    1. Students can state how school clubs/extracurricular
      activities affect them.
    2. Students can identify the main idea and some supporting details
      in the reading material and answer the questions.
    3. Students can recognize and properly use the new vocabulary.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    培养···的习惯、对···的影响     Optional: 用···的方式,表达···

     

    Activity 1: Warm up

     

    1. Review Chinese characters and sentence structures learned
      from the last lesson.
    2. Say something about the school club/extracurricular activity you are in.

     

    Activity 2:  Game - Fly Swatter Game

     

    1. Teacher shows all the words on one slide of PPT and
      ask student hold a fly swatter.
    2. Teacher reads out a word and student pats it with the fly swatter.
    3. Teacher can ask two students to compete.

     

    Activity 3: Read and learn - Puzzle Reading

     

    1. Teacher will divide the text into parts. Students will be divided
      into 4 groups and do puzzle reading.
    2. Answer questions.

    Objectives:

     

    1. Students can give a brief introduction to the school’s clubs/
      extracurricular activities.
    2. Students can tell a story about themselves and a club/extracurricular
      activity they participate in.
    3. Students can recognize and properly use the new vocabulary.
    4. Students can identify the main idea and some supporting details
      in the reading material and answer the questions.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    受欢迎、是···之一     Optional: 为···尽一份心意、为···做贡献

     

    Activity 1: Warm up

     

    1. Review Chinese characters and sentence structures learned from
      the last lesson.
    2. Review how school clubs/extracurricular activities affect you.

     

    Activity 2: Game - Fly Swatter Game

     

    1. Teacher shows all the words on one slide of PPT and
