  • LESSON 1

     

    Objectives:

     

    1. Students can share their opinions on whether or not learning
      Chinese is difficult and provide their reasons.
    2. Student can identify the main idea and some supporting details
      in the video resources on this topic.
    3. Students can recognize and use the new vocabulary properly.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    拼音,汉字,和。。。一样/不一样

    Optional: 主要, 称、华语、使用、人数、语言

     

    Activity 1: Brainstorm

     

    1. Watch a video
    2. What is the video about?
    3. Is Chinese difficult to learn?

     

    Activity 2: Ask, answer, and learn

     

    1. What is Chinese - “汉语”?
    2. What do you think of Chinese, is it hard or easy to learn?
    3. Why do you think Chinese is hard/easy?

     

    Activity 4: Group work

     

    1. Students can share their opinion on whether learning Chinese is
      hard or not and provide their reasons.
    2. Students can tell others about their friend’s opinion.

     

  • LESSON 2

     

    Objectives:

     

    1. Students can list the four aspects of Chinese learning.
    2. Students can talk about what they do in Chinese class.
    3. Student can identify the main idea and some supporting details
      in the video resources on this topic.
    4. Students can recognize and use the new vocabulary properly.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    听说读写、语音、语调     Optional:声母、韵母、声调、形声字

     

    Activity 1: Warm up

     

    1. Review Chinese characters and sentence structures learned
      from the last lesson.
    2. Is Chinese difficult to learn? Why?

     

    Activity 2: Ask, answer and learn

     

    1. What do you do in Chinese class?
    2. The four aspects of Chinese learning - Listening, speaking,
      reading and writing.

     

    Activity 3: Group work

     

    1. Discuss the four aspects of Chinese learning.
    2. What do you do in a Chinese class with regards to the four aspects of Chinese learning?

     

  • LESSON 3

     

    Objectives:

     

    1. Students can exchange their opinions on what they think the
      hardest part of learning Chinese is and provide their reasons.
    2. Students can recognize and properly use the new vocabulary.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    词汇、语法、相/不同之处、复杂、简单、之所以…,是因为…

    Optional: 表示、翻译、理解、句意、结构

     

    Activity 1: Warm up

     

    1. Review Chinese characters and sentence structures learned
      from the last lesson.
    2. List the four aspects of Chinese learning.

     

    Activity 2: Ask, answer and learn

     

    1. What do you think is the hardest part of learning Chinese?
    2. Why do you think that?

     

    Activity 3: Group work

     

    1. Interview a friend and ask him/her which part of learning Chinese
      is the most difficult for him/her and why.
    2. Tell others about your friends’ opinion.

    Objectives:

     

    1. Students can list and introduce the ways they learn Chinese.
    2. Students can recognize and use the new vocabulary properly.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    先…,再…、既…又…

    Optional: 一边。。。一边。。。、文化、留学、从事

     

    Activity 1: Warm up

     

    1. Review Chinese characters and sentence structures learned
      from the last lesson.
    2. What do you think is the hardest part of learning Chinese? Why?

     

    Activity 2: Ask, answer and learn

     

    How do you learn Chinese?

     

    Activity 3: Interview

     

    You are selected to join NSLY-Y program in China. Before you go, they conduct an interview to ask you what challenges you are facing when learning Chinese and how you have overcome those challenges.

     

    Activity 4: Presentation

     

    What do you think is the hardest part of learning Chinese, and
    how do you learn Chinese?

    Objectives:

     

    1. Student can explain why they learn Chinese.
    2. Students can state the advantages of learning a new language.
    3. Students can recognize and use the new vocabulary properly.
    4. Student can identify the main idea and some supporting details
      in the video resources on this topic.

     

    Vocabulary:

     

    提升、竞争力、获得、机会、结交、以前、现在

     

    Activity 1: Warm up

     

    1. Review Chinese characters and sentence structures learned
      from the last lesson.
    2. Introduce the ways you learn Chinese.

     

    Activity 2: Watch and learn

     

    1. Video
    2. Why does Mark learn Chinese?

     

    Activity 3: Ask, answer and learn

     

    1. Why do you learn Chinese?
    2. What are the advantages of learning Chinese?

     

    Activity 4: Interview

     

    Interview your classmates and find out what the most common
    reason for learning Chinese is among them.

     

    Activity 5: Game

     

    Passing the ball

    1. Start the ball at one student. This student will pass the ball to another student of their choice and ask one of five questions: 你在中文课做什么?你觉得学习中文最难的是什么?你觉得学习中文的好处是什么?以前,你觉得中文怎么样?现在,你觉得中文怎么样?
    2. The student who received the ball must answer that question and then pose another one of the five questions to the person he/she passes the ball to. They must not repeat the question that was asked them; the idea is to use all five questions as much as possible.
    3. This will continue until all students have both asked and
      answered a question.

     

    Activity 6: Going deep
